Master Your Feelings
Genesis 4:6-7 AMP
“And the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you so angry? And why do you look annoyed? If you do well [believing Me and doing what is acceptable and pleasing to Me], will you not be accepted? (God asks Cain a question with an obvious answer.)
And if you do not do well [but ignore My instruction], sin crouches at your door; its desire is for you [to overpower you], but you must master it.”
God gave Cain a pep talk. Some of you will not think it was not a great pep talk but understand, God already knew what Cain was thinking, how he was feeling and what he was going to do.
This same situation faces most of us everyday, we have situations, circumstances that seem to anger us like it did with Cain. Cain knew what was expected of him but obviously he did not do what was expected of him. Then instead of being angry with himself, he was angry with God and then became so angry with Abel, that he killed him.
God told Cain, If he would do well (what God expects,) then things would go well for him. If not, sin is waiting for just that moment, the opportunity for him to do right or do wrong. God told Cain, that sin wants him bad but “but you must master it.” (You have to maintain control of your feelings and actions).
Prayer:
Father, everyday I’m met with a challenge or situation. I have two opportunities, I can allow sin to take control and I get angry and loose my temper or I can overcome the challenge and master my feelings and make You proud of me.
