Renewed Strength

Isaiah 40:27-29,31 ESV
“Why do you say… ‘My way is hidden from the Lord, and my right is disregarded by my God’? Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable.

He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength…they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”

God brings to light five different matters in Israel’s thinking in this verse and we can learn something in our own lives and situations.

1. “My way is hidden from the Lord…”
Questioning God when things look bleak is not helping matters.

Peter 3:9 says, “The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.”

In other words, God is waiting on us, while we think we are waiting on God.

2. Not realizing who God is, and what He has done and will do is shortsightedness.

“Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the LORD of hosts” Zechariah 4:6 ESV

“But I will have mercy on the house of Judah, and I will save them by the Lord their God. I will not save them by bow or by sword or by war or by horses or by horsemen.” Hosea 1:7 ESV

3. To the faint of heart, mind, spirit or body, He is providing power, so hold on.

Wherever you find yourself this morning and whatever state of being that you are in, know God is sending you what You need.

4. To the ones who feel like they have no might, be patient, He is providing strength.

Notice in this passage who God is providing strength and encouragement to; “He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength…” God’s strength is reserved for those who know they are weak, and know they have no might without God.

5. Waiting on the Lord, while He is working things in, or out of us, brings great reward.

“…for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”

Prayer: Lord God, I wait on You, I rest in You. I find my source of strength in You, and I declare as Paul did, when I am weak, then I am strong, in You. In Your Righteous name Lord, Amen!
