Bless the Lord O My Soul
Psalms 103:1-5 ESV
“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”
This is a great Psalm. The first thing David says is “Bless the Lord”. Then in verses 3-5 he gives the reasons that we need to be thankful. God forgives all our iniquities. (thank God for forgiveness). God heals all our diseases, God redeems our life from the pit (saves us from destruction, evil, even death). God crowns us with steadfast love and mercy, (A crown is a sign of honor).
You could say, our sign of honor as Christians is God’s extreme mercy for us and His never ending, unconditional love. God satisfies us with good and that good from God finds the youth within us (I know it’s there) to make us soar like the eagle’s.
Prayer:
“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits…”
