Life, Righteousness and Honor
Proverbs 21:21ESV
“Whoever pursues righteousness and kindness will find life, righteousness, and honor.”
Pursue is the key word to start with in this passage. So many people in this life are waiting for people to give them things. Things like happiness, love, fulfillment, and meaning. It is not up to another human being to bring us these things, it is up to us to pursue these things from God.
God is the source of all that is good in this life. God is the one who gives us meaning, joy, fulfillment.
Solomon wrote whoever pursues (seeks after, as if looking for a great treasure) righteousness (right standing with God our Father as in a great relationship with Him where we count on Him, and He can count on us).
Then Solomon says, “Whoever pursues (seeks after, as if looking for a great treasure) …kindness (the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate, showing empathy and love and a true concern).
After this pursuit on a daily, hourly, minute by minute pursuit, we then will find life, real life, real contentment. This is where we feel like we are in God’s perfect will, fulfilling His perfect plan, and we have unimaginable favor with God and man.
Then we will also find righteousness. You know, where we find that right standing with God our Father as in a great relationship with Him where we count on Him, and He can count on us! Then after all this is in place in our fulfillment of true life and righteousness with God, He bestows us with honor. Honor where we are lifted up, we feel fulfilled, we feel appreciated, loved, even adored.
Prayer:
Lord, today as I set out to conquer the world, let my pursuit begin in You. Let me seek diligently Your face, Your righteousness, Your holiness. I want to have the kind of kindness that is infectious, desirable, long lasting, memorable. I want my resolve today to be in You and Your dreams and Your goals so that others see You in me. I pursue You Lord Jesus! Amen!
