Lord, Take My Hand

Psalms 37:23-24 ESV

“The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in his way;  though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong, for the Lord upholds his hand.”

God is watching. As a child when I heard that, it bothered me because I thought God was watching to be sure that I did not mess up. I thought if I did mess up He was setting up a punishment for me. Now, today, I take great joy knowing that God is watching me in order to guide my footsteps, and to hold my hand. I even take great joy when I may not be doing what I should be doing, knowing He will lift my feet from the mud, and set me back on solid ground if I submit to Him.

I feel the love of God around me and I know He is working before me and behind me to establish my way, but if I fall, He is still holding my hands, and He will lift me up once again.

There is an old song that says;

“Precious Lord, take my hand, lead me on, let me stand.
I’m tired, I’m weak, I’m lorn (sad).
Through the storm, through the night, lead me on to the light.
Take my hand, precious Lord, Lead me home.

In my way grows drear, precious Lord, linger near.
When my life is almost gone.
Hear my cry, hear my call, hold my hand, lest I fall.
Take my hand precious Lord, Lead me home.

Prayer: Lord, some this morning have lost their strength, others are on the mountain top rejoicing. This morning, take the ones whose strength is dim and give them inner peace and contentment, give them strength to bear the load, and courage to rise up and praise You. Then You will lead them on through their journey. Those on the mountain top experience, we rejoice with them, give them wings to soar like eagles. Let them rise up with the Son and give You praise, glory and honor. In Jesus precious name, AMEN!
