Dominion

Genesis 1:26-27 NASB
“Then God said, “Let Us make mankind in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the livestock and over all the earth, and over every crawling thing that crawls on the earth.”  So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”

Genesis 1:26-28a Amplified says it this way;
“Then God said, “Let Us (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) make man in Our image, according to Our likeness [not physical, but a spiritual personality and moral likeness]…[granting them certain authority]…”

Just so everyone knows, God’s intent when He created the first man and the first woman in the image of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, was so they were not created in physical nature but spiritual in nature, characteristics, and spiritual personalities.  The purpose of this plan was to have a relationship with God the Father. The gift to mankind was dominion and authority, which the first man and the first woman readily gave away because of their sin. The story does not end there, though?

Jesus Christ, the second Adam, so to speak, He took back the dominion and power over all things at the cross and in His resurrection. We may not get to rule the things of this earth like Adam and Eve were supposed to do, but through Jesus Christ we have the dominion and power over all things granted to us by His sacrifice.

Prayer:
Lord, make us to be in nature, character, and Spirit to be like You! Then we will be who we are supposed to be.
