God of Mercy and Faithfulness

Psalms 86:5 ESV
“But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, Islow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.”

Have you ever been around someone who was always angry or always upset about something? Your first encounter with them you may think, “maybe their just having a bad day.” Then you encounter that person again and again and find they have the same temperament. You would be surprised but there are millions like that. Those who have no good out look on life.

Unfortunately there are many that view God as an angry God. Some because they think that He did not come through for them when they wanted something. Some because in their ignorance they listened to some misrepresentation of God.

As a child I saw God as an angry God because of how He was represented from the pulpit at church. Thank God I now see God as an amazing God who loves and cares even if I feel like I don’t deserve it. I now look at God expectantly for favor.

For those who look at God expectantly they find the God that David is talking about in this Psalm. “But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.” That’s the God I seek, that’s the God I look to, that’s the God I trust in.

Prayer:
Father, in a world that is completely out of control I’m thankful that in my world You are in control!
