Legacy

Ephesians 5:8 ESV

“For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.”

When I was in construction, I had a phrase that I would use for the carpenters and sub-contractors: “Be who you say you are and do what you said you were going to do.” Too often carpenters were wondering around like they were lost. The subcontractors would say what they had to say to get the job, but when it came time to deliver they were nowhere to be found.

For us as Christians, if we say we are Christians we should be living up to the standards of Christ. We are no longer in darkness, now we reflect the light of Jesus Christ. Paul, quite frankly says, “walk as children of light.” That means our words, actions, reactions and deeds need to reflect Jesus and His glory. The only thing I can add to that is: “Be who you say you are, reflect His glory.”

Prayer:

Lord, we are not perfect, but we live under grace, thank You for that. Help us to set the bar high as we follow after You so that those who follow us will see You and not ourselves. If we make a mistake, help us to own it and move on in forgiveness. Most of all, Lord we want to walk as children of Your light. In Your name we ask Lord, Amen!
